The remains of ancient settlements are scattered all over the Carneddau. However, vegetation growth can undermine these archaeological structures, as well as obscure their existence.
Clearing gorse from these significant sites reveals more of our area’s hidden history and also creates feeding ground for the chough that rely on closely cropped grass to forage. This winter we will be running gorse clearing days twice a month on both weekdays and weekends as part of the Carneddau Landscape Partnership. Cwm Anafon, Abergwyngregyn is a site we are focusing on at the moment and is easily accessible by public transport from both Bangor and Llandudno directions.
Sessions are planned for 8/11, 16/11 and 26/11. To join us, and to see the entire list of upcoming activities, head to our My Impact volunteering page.
