One of our favourite parts of what we do here at Snowdonia Society is working with wonderful people all over Eryri and beyond. In our recent YouTube video, Peri speaks to two of our regular volunteers, Hanna Storey-Arnell and Kevin Jones, about what they gain from our volunteering scheme and why they keep coming back for more!
For Hanna, it was about wanting to immerse herself in her new environment while meeting people along the way. “I’ve only recently moved to Wales properly and I feel like I’ve been incorporated into the community by doing stuff like this. I’ve made lots of friends and things as well, which is nice.”
Kevin revealed that for him, joining our conservation days is all about meeting like-minded people, networking, and sharing his knowledge of the Welsh language with other volunteers who are learning or want to practice.
He finds tackling invasive species especially rewarding, and each time he comes out, he’s energized to do more.
From local volunteers who want to look after their wild patch to visitors who want to give back to Eryri during their stay, you’re all making an incredible difference in protecting the landscape. This ensures that future generations have beautiful areas full of biodiversity and rich history to enjoy.
If you’ve been thinking about volunteering with us, there’s no better time to register online! Once you’ve filled in your details, you’ll be able to see a range of conservation activities on our My Impact calendar. You can select the days you’d like to join, and we’ll send you everything you need to know beforehand.
The great thing is you’re in control. Whether you have a busy schedule and can only fit in the occasional day once or twice a year, or if you want to participate more frequently, we have options for you.
“We’re doing amazing things for Eryri National Park, which is the main thing. You just want to see the National Park stay beautiful!” – Hanna
