Mark recently retired as a town planner, having worked for several local authorities in Essex and north Wales. Later in his career he joined the Planning Inspectorate where he spent 15 years dealing with major planning appeals and local development plan examinations. He remains a chartered town planner.
He has been visiting Eryri National Park since he was a child. After moving to live in north Wales in 1990, he has explored many of the mountains, hills, and valleys. This has given him a love of the landscape and a great interest in the interactions between humans and nature.
For the last few years Mark has volunteered with Cymdeithas Eryri, working on conservation projects and the Caru Eryri initiative. Since 2023 he has acted as a Volunteer Leader. He has also recently supported the Society by offering advice on developments in the National Park as a member of the Advocacy Committee.
Mark hopes his skills and experience can assist the Society in contributing to maintaining and enhancing the special qualities of the Park.
The Snowdonia Society, established in 1967, is a member-based registered charity working to protect and enhance the beauty and special qualities of Eryri and to promote their enjoyment in the interests of all who live in, work in or visit the area both now and in the future.
