A new portable guide reveals some of Snowdon’s special nature.
Snowdonia Society along with its partners has produced a new educational resource detailing some of the remarkable habitats and species found on Snowdon, one of our precious National Nature Reserves. From geology to wildflowers, the double sided nature ‘map’ provides a colourful introduction to the nature of Snowdon and can easily be tucked into a pocket while out exploring.
Snowdonia Society Director, John Harold, says:
“Snowdon can be a very busy mountain. This new guide will help people take the time to appreciate this precious and fragile mountain environment. We encourage visitors to tread lightly and observe the quiet diversity of mosses, wildflowers, insects and birds that we share the mountains with. It would be great if this enriches the experience of Snowdon and the nature for which it is a home.”
The resource is available online HERE and will be made available to volunteers on the 2021 Caru Eryri / Care for Snowdonia scheme, as well as in some tourist information centres in the National Park. If you’d like a personal copy or a batch of copies for a group of learners then send our Engagement Officer Claire an email: claire@snowdonia-society.org.uk
The team at the Snowdonia Society is very grateful for the support of the Snowdon Partnership, Snowdonia National Park Authority, Natural Resources Wales and input from individual experts to make this happen.
The Snowdonia Society, established in 1967, is a member-based registered charity working to protect and enhance the beauty and special qualities of Eryri and to promote their enjoyment in the interests of all who live in, work in or visit the area both now and in the future.
